The STEM Education Coalition joined others in the aerospace and aerospace education world through a joint letter supporting a request for additional time to develop a detailed response to substantial new federal education rules regarding the curricula for aviation technicians.

In response to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions beginning to review and prepare legislation to reauthorize the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, the STEM Education Coalition submitted a letter to Senator Michael Enzi and Senator Bob Casey regarding several important issues.

Today we are excited to announce the addition of the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) to the STEM Education Coalition’s Leadership Council.

This October, Congress passed The STEM Education Act, a bipartisan bill introduced by the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology’s Chairman Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX21) and Committee Member Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-CT05). We would like to thank Chairman Smith for sitting down with the Coalition to discuss the legislation.

The STEM Education Coalition is delighted to announce the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) has joined the Coalition’s Leadership Council!

The STEM Education Coalition issued a statement on a bipartisan letter coauthored by U.S. Representatives Richard Hanna (R-NY) and Joe Courtney (D-CT) and signed by 34 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, sent to House and Senate leaders supporting a Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) provision that would provide dedicated funding to every state to boost STEM education activities.

The STEM Education Coalition joined Microsoft, Excelencia in Education, Hispanic Heritage Foundation, and the Washington DC Public Schools to discuss issues Latino students in STEM education face in the United States.

The STEM Education Coalition Policy Forum was proud to collaborate with the Afterschool Alliance, the Association of Science–Technology Centers, the Education Development Center, and the National Science Teachers Association to host the first of a series of briefings on informal STEM education.

The STEM Education Coalition recently teamed up with Media Planet for their Education and Career News special publication on STEM education.

The Coalition is pleased to announce two new members of it’s Leadership Council.

The National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools (NCSSS) has joining the STEM Education Coalition’s Leadership Council.

Last week the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee unanimously approved the Every Child Achieves Act, a bill that would comprehensively overhaul the No Child Left Behind Act, which has been in place since 2002. 

The Coalition's Executive Director, James Brown, was featured on SPAN's Washington Journal program this morning to discuss President Obama's agenda for STEM education and his announcement yesterday during the White House Science fair of a new $35 million STEM teacher training effort.
